Phil's Sugar Technology Page

Welcome to Phil Thompson's web page, focussing on process engineering and the sugar industry.

I run my own consultancy business, working for sugar companies and equipment suppliers in a number of countries.
Mail me if I can help you out, wherever you are, or go to my links page for more sugar orientated sites.

I work with a number of UK based equipment suppliers, including Broadbent, the centrifugal specialists and Cocksedge
who supply sulphitation plants for sugar factories. Click here to see a sulphur burner in action !

Wayne Jayes in South Africa has built a useful site with lots of practical stuff, links etc. Another good place for links is SugarOnline.com though some of the links need you to register first. For robot collected sugar news see here, or try Wayne's manually collated news page which has a better signal/noise ratio.

One of my areas of activity with sugar companies is energy studies and advice.
There are relevant papers from meetings of ASSBT and BSSCT available on the web.

As well as a sweet domain name, SKIL provides a monthly news page, sugar jobs, useful links and educational content about the sugar industry.
If you're looking for equipment, try the ZSB buyers guide. (multi lingual)

New! My reaction to the propaganda barrage from Oxfam regarding the EU sugar regime can be read here

Nigel Day is a centrifuge technologist with a wide experience of different machines and different industries. He's a good practical man and you can see the web site of his new business here. PlanActiv Ltd are a project management and business support company active in the sugar business, notably in China. You can read a little about them here

Click here for information on the sugar technology mailing list (aka "forum") where you can discuss things with other sugar technologists.
